COVID-19

UPDATE:

*As of Friday, May 22, 2020

Effective today, public health orders have been modified to increase the limit on gathering size to no more than 25 people for indoor premises and 50 for outdoor areas, providing social distancing measures are in place.

*As of Tuesday, March 30, 2020, our doors will remain locked in compliance to regulations that public gatherings remain at 10 or less people. Please call 204-346-1030 upon your arrival and someone will greet you and give you further instructions on how to proceed. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate through this time.

*As of Friday, March 27, 2020, as authorized under The Public Health Act, the following measures will be in place, effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 30. Public gatherings will be limited to no more than 10 people at any indoor or outdoor place or premises. This includes places of worship, gatherings and family events such as weddings and funerals.

Birchwood will be following the guidelines as authorized by the public health act.

*As of Friday, March 20, 2020, the Manitoba Government has declared a province wide state of emergency. Due to the state of emergency, Birchwood Funeral Chapel will be following the mandated guidelines provided by the province. It reads as follows:

      * Limiting public gatherings of more than 50 people at any indoor or outdoor place or premises. This includes places of worship, gatherings and family events such as weddings and funerals. This does not apply to a facility where health care or social services are provided. Retail businesses including grocery or food stores, shopping centres, pharmacies or gas stations must ensure separation of one to two metres between patrons assembling in the business. Public transportation facilities must also ensure that people assembling at the facility are reasonably able to maintain a separation of one to two metres from others assembling at the facility.

To that end, Birchwood Funeral Chapel will follow the Province of Manitoba’s directions related to COVID-19. Therefore, it should be expected that there will be changes to the size of public gatherings allowed, social distancing practices expected, and personal protection to be practiced, among possibly additional restrictions.

During this evolving COVID – 19 pandemic, we at Birchwood Funeral Chapel are committed to continue to plan with and serve families in their time of loss. In light of this, we will incrementally maintain the recommended and mandatory preventive measures in attempts to ensure the safety of both the public and staff.

Birchwood Funeral Chapel continues to be in communication with the governing authorities with regards to funeral practices and the COVID-19, and will keep families and the community informed as new developments arise.
