Obituary of Frank Braun

Frank Braun passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14th, 2008, at the Fred Douglas Lodge, Winnipeg, MB. Left to mourn are Helen, his wife of nearly 51 years, his children John Braun, wife Janice and granddaughter Michelle of Calgary, AB, Katherine and husband David Harvey and grandchildren Joshua and Shaun of Brisbane, Australia, Kenneth Braun, wife Cheryl and grandson Kristopher of Mitchell, MB, granddaughter Jessica and her husband Sam Ehlers and great grandson Miles of Winnipeg, MB. He is survived by his sisters Kay and husband Rudy Goerzen of Abbotsford, Betty and Johnny Friesen of Morris, Susana and Jacob Siemens of Niverville, Margaret and Peter Dyck of Winkler , Hilda and Corny Wiebe of Oak Bluff and his brother George and his wife Doreen of Arnes. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helena Braun; his sisters Maria Braun, Katherine Braun, Anne Schroeder, Helen Bergen; brothers John and Abe Braun. Frank was born in Schoenwiese, Manitoba on January 26, 1932. On June 30, 1957, he was baptized upon his profession of his faith of his Lord Jesus Christ, by Jacob Toews at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church. On July 25, 1957, Frank and Helen Hiebert of Lowe Farm were married at Plum Coulee Bergthaler Church by Bishop Jacob Toews. Frank had been a resident of Fred Douglas Lodge for the last four years. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff for their support and their loving care of Frank. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fred Douglas Society, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8. Viewing will be held Monday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, MB. Funeral service will held Tuesday, June 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Blumenort Mennonite Church in Rosetown, MB (near Gretna) with interment at Schoenwiese Cemetery near Gretna. The family would like to thank family and friends for their support and prayers through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fred Douglas Society, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8.
