Obituary of Mary Kopeschny

With tremendous peace in her heart and family at her side, Mary was received into her heavenly home on June 16th, 2008, at the age of 74. Remaining to cherish Mary’s memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Willy; sons Ron (Shelley) and Harold (Donna), Mia, daughter Diana (Gil), and grandchildren Chelsey, Rebecca (Josh), Virginia, Michael, Wendy, Raymond and David. Also, her sister Anne (Hein), brothers Nick (Jessie), Albert (Helen) and Hank (Diane), many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Luise, her parents, and her daughter Lorie. Born Oct. 7th, 1933 in Rosenort Ukraine, Mary lived a blessed and full life. With her family, she immigrated to Canada in 1948. Willy and Mary were married on June 13th, 1953. Mary was able to enjoy and celebrate their 55th anniversary with her entire family 3 days before her passing. From young on, Mary has always enjoyed people and had many friends. She dearly loved all of her Frauenverein (Ladies Auxillary) from church and enjoyed singing in various choirs over the years. She did volunteer work with St. Johns Ambulance, Meals on Wheels and the MCC Thrift shop. She worked at Ludwig Catering for a time and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed knitting and her Aquacise class at Concordia Pool. She treasured all her family and enjoyed every time we got together. We would like to thank those who cared for and supported us all, in this last year: Pastors Don and James, Dr. Braun, Dr. Seftel and Nicole and all the caring staff at the St.Boniface Palliative Care Ward. A funeral service will be held on June 19th, 2008 at 10:30 am with viewing at 10:00 am at Douglas Mennonite Church, 1517 Rothesay Street, Winnipeg, MB, with interment after the service at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. A time of fellowhip will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Room ON109 – 675 McDermot Ave.; Wpg., MB R3E 0V9
