Rita Schalla (nee Wiebe) passed away June 17, 2008, at the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, MB. She is survived by her husband, Ron, three daughters: Dianna Hak (Darryl Cote), Carol (Myron Krentz) and Sandra (Troy Pestrak) nine grandchildren Matthew, Brendon, Colton, Wayne, Dylan, Avery, Jesse, Shelby, and Steven. She is also survived by her sisters Irene Farina (Wally), Dora Pachniosky (Florian) and sister-in-law Sonya Wiebe, and by Ron’s family: Henrietta (Bill Reimer), Martha (Frank Plett), Elsie Mintern, Thelma Funk, Helen (Wally Pletz), Margaret (Bob Rentz), and many nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her parents Ben and Tina Wiebe, infant brother George, and brother Harvey Wiebe. Rita was born on June 28, 1948 in Steinbach. She married Ron on July 2, 1966. They resided in the “District of Kerry” for the last 16 years. Rita loved being at the lake, gardening, and of course, cooking. Their travels took them to the Dominican and most recently to Mexico. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, with interment to follow at the Kerry Cemetery.
