Obituary of Aganetha Nickel

Aganetha Nickel was born to Peter and Elizabeth Dyck on April 23, 1917 at Hague, Saskatchewan passed away August 23, 2008 at 7:45 p.m. at the Menno Home for the Aged in Grunthal, MB. She was baptized on the confession of her faith on March 17, 1935 in the Sommerfelder Church, Hague, SK. She married Jacob C. Nickel on November 12, 1939. From this union they had 14 children of which two girls and one boy predeceased her. They raised 11 children: Helen in the Grunthal Menno Home, John and Ruth (Peters) living at Roseau River, blessed with four daughters, Pete and Sarah (Rempel) of Winkler, blessed with one daughter and four sons, Neil and Ann (Brown) of Niverville, blessed with two girls and one boy, Jake Nickel of Grunthal, blessed with one girls and seven boys, Agnes Wieler (Nickel) of Aylmer, ON, blessed with six girls and seven boys, Bill and Mary (Thiessen) of Grunthal, blessed with three girls, Lisa (Nickel) and James Fehr of Grunthal, blessed with two boys and one girl, Eva Gerbrandt (Nickel) of Grunthal, blessed with three boys, Mary (Nickel) & Peter Elias of Bolivia, blessed with two girls and seven boys, Martha (Nickel) and Cornie Thiessen of Bolivia, blessed with one girl and three boys. There are a total of 55 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jacob C. Nickel after 56 years of marriage, two daughters, one son, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and two great grandsons. The funeral service was held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reinland Mennonite Church, Grunthal with interment at the church cemetery. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Monday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. with devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reinland Mennonite Church near Grunthal, MB.
