Anna Rempel, at the age of 70 years, seven months, and 12 days old, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on August 25, 2008 at 10:15 pm with her family at her side at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba. Anna was born on January 13, 1938 to Jacob and Margaretha Friesen in Osterwick (New Bothwell), Manitoba. At the age of 10 she moved with her family to Paraguay where they lived until 1984. In 1957 she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ. There she met and married Ben Rempel on March 25, 1958 in Colony Bergthal, Paraguay. They spent the next 50 years and five months together. In June 1984 they moved to Steinbach. Our loving Mother was always an encouragement to us and taught us to trust Jesus in all circumstances. She prayed for her family every day. She loved to give and we never left her place empty handed. We will always remember her for homemade chicken noodle soup, pies and cinnamon buns that the grandchildren loved so much. She is survived by her husband Ben and eight children, Ruth (Cornie) Toews of Paraguay, Edna (Andy) Friesen of Mitchell, MB, Jakie (Neta) Rempel of Paraguay, Lena (Henry) Friesen of Paraguay, Priscilla (David) Enns of Paraguay, Hulda (Willy) Goertzen of Steinbach, Bill (Lori) Rempel of Steinbach, and Reynold (Vikki) Rempel of Steinbach; as well as 31 grandchildren (19 in Paraguay and 12 in Canada), two great grandchildren, four sisters and one brother. Anna was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Margaretha Friesen of Paraguay, two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren in infancy. The family would like to thank you for all your prayers, support and encouragement during this difficult time. We, the family, extend our most sincere thanks to Dr. Dyck and staff at Bethesda Hospital. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with internment at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church Cemetery. Viewing is prior to the service and Sunday, August 31, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.
