Obituary of Henry W Peters

Henry W. Peters Henry W. Peters of Steinbach, passed away at the Bethesda Hospital ON Sunday, May 21st, 2006 at the age of 83. He is survived by his loving wife Tina of 60 years and two daughters, Elizabeth (Edward) Hildebrand, and their children, Davin and Erin Hildebrand and Katie (Richard) Unger and their children Ivon Funk, Cherise and Marvin Stoesz and Nikki Funk and step children, Jake and Charlene Sacher, Amanda Unger and Amy Unger. He was predeceased by his parents John and Ann Peters, eight brothers and two sisters. Henry was born in Niverville and grew up just south of Grunthal. Henry and his wife, Tina and daughter Betty moved to Paraguay, South America in 1948 and returned to Canada in 1958. Henry worked as a mechanic at Chornaboy‘s Farm and then as a cheese maker in St. Pierre. He retired from working as a grader operator for Manitoba Highways with 21 years of service and after retirement decided to work as a home care worker for seven years. His greatest enjoyment after retirement was golfing with his many friends. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wilfried Kaethler and the nursing staff at Bethesda Hospital for the wonderful care Henry (Dad) received during the last eight weeks he was in the hospital. Also thanks to our honorary brother, Jake Peters and his wife Kathy for their support during this difficult time. Viewing will be held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 179 Hanover St, Steinbach, MB on Tuesday, May 23 at 6 pm with a devotional to follow at 6:30 pm. The funeral service will also be held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church on Wednesday, May 24 at 2 pm with interment at Heritage Cemetery. If friends and family so desire donations may be made to South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) Palliative Care, Bethesda Hospital, Box 88; St. Pierre, MB R0A 1V0.
