<p>It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lindsay James Johnson on Saturday, February 2, 2019.&nbsp; Lindsay was called to his home with Jesus after a sudden, short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.</p> <p>Family who will cherish his memories are his wife of 38 years, Dianne (nee Leatherdale), step-daughter Kellie King, sister Tannis (Jim), foster sister Marlene (Bob), nephews Lee and Shaun (Laura) and nieces Stacey (Jake) and Andrea (Kenneth), grandnephew Declan, many cousins, extended family and many, many friends from the Alonsa, Ste. Rose, Dauphin and Steinbach areas.</p> <p>Lindsay was predeceased by his Father Arthur, his Mother Dona, step-Father Fred, Munro, Johnson and Krawetz grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.</p> <p>Lindsay was born on April 15, 1949 to Dona and Arthur Johnson. Arthur passed away when Lindsay was 2.&nbsp; Dona attended Normal School in Winnipeg (Teachers College) in order to provide for her and Lindsay on her own. During this time, Lindsay spent his time with his grandparents, Jim and Amanda Munro in Amaranth who treated him like one of their own.&nbsp; He enjoyed going frogging with Grandpa and was also pictured with him in a CBC News feature on the frogging business. He lived in several locations in the area having his mother as a teacher at every school.</p> <p>In 1958, his family grew when Dona married Fred Krawetz and moved to the farm in Alonsa. Lindsay was born with a displaced hip and had several surgeries when he was 16 to, hopefully, help with his leg and walked with a cane since then. He completed his schooling at Alonsa and then moved to Winnipeg at age 17. He worked at Bishop&rsquo;s Craft Corner, Capri Forists and at MTS before marrying Dianne in 1980.&nbsp; They made a move to Ste. Rose where they opened a floral and gift shop business and eventually moved to Dauphin.&nbsp; He remained at home and worked with flowers for various wedding and graduations. It was while they were in Dauphin that Lindsay was blessed with having Jesus introduced into his life and it was after that, that he dedicated much of his time to the scriptures, helping others overcome alcohol addiction and encouraging others to follow.&nbsp; He was a member of Parkside Gospel Church with Pastor Richard Libbey. He was friends with Pastor Ron Hagglund of the Pentecostal Church. After the move to Steinbach, he had an Academy Florist flower shop and then opened his own shop, Lindsay&rsquo;s Flowers and More.&nbsp; Eventually, Lindsay and Dianne semi-retired but still involved with the Fast Cash Business.&nbsp; Lindsay became very involved with the Southland Church in Steinbach.&nbsp; He volunteered at Red Rock Bible Camp and Union Gospel Mission in Winnipeg.&nbsp; He also provided palliative care in Bethesda Hospital.&nbsp; He worked with youth groups and was always available to counsel and to &ldquo;just talk&rdquo; to whoever may be in his life.</p> <p>As much of a hindrance that his physical disability may have seemed, he excelled at creativity.&nbsp; He was known by many for his artistic talents with the flower arrangements, other crafts but mostly his egg artistry. Many of you have souvenirs of his egg artist work and memories of the graduation and wedding floral creations.&nbsp; He was also a frequenter to the gym, working with weights, keeping his body strong.</p> <p>He connected with many family and friends over the past several years as he organized photos ensuring that they were mailed or delivered as keepsakes. He loved learning of family connections and was becoming quite the family historian.</p> <p>Of course, he loved his family, cherishing his nephews and nieces, often bragging about them and their accomplishments.</p> <p>The family would like to thank the staff of GD6 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, MB for their care and compassion during Lindsay&rsquo;s time at the hospital.</p> <p>A memorial service will be held Friday, April 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Southland Church, Steinbach, MB.&nbsp;</p> <p>Donations can be made in Lindsay&rsquo;s memory to Southland Church &ndash; Bird River Bible Camp 190PTH 52W, Steinbach, MB, R5G 1Y1.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
