He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Margaret Stott, Cecily and Irene Wallace, Nonie Edwards and his 100 year old cousin Beryl Holt of Vancouver, BC. Maurice was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee-Wallace) in 2010, parents John and Nettie (Holt), brothers Don, Cecil, Tom, Lyndal and sister Muriel Mason; granddaughter Lesley Leppky (1980) and son-in-law Kenneth Peter Leppky (2000). Born June 15th, 1912 he was raised in Marcrorie, Saskatchewan and attended Mount Marie School. He also resided in Floral, Saskatchewan and Naicam, SK and endured the dirty 30s. He frequently stated he lost 10 years of opportunity during that time. In 1937 he moved to Niverville, MB. The early years in Niverville were spent keeping the farm going and playing baseball in the summer and some hockey and curling in the winter. He married Mary on Nov 13th, 1943. While raising a family, he was also involved in coaching baseball and hockey. Along the way he worked off the farm at various jobs including Condon Coal Sales and driving school bus. He retired in 1974 and spent time golfing, and traveling. In 1989 the farm was sold and they relocated to St. Pierre. In 2006 they moved to the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo, MB. He became a resident of the Repo Joly in November of 2011. Maurice had an incredible memory that lasted his entire lifetime. He could recall events as a young boy, kept track of ages, names, birthdays and shared many stories over the years. While he spent most of his years in Manitoba, Saskatchewan never left his heart. His transition from horse power, to tractors and then to the modern world of watching man land on the moon was a lifetime of awe and experience. Maurice was instrumental, with others from St. Adolphe, St. Agathe, lle des Chenes and St. Malo in establishing the Richot Centennial Hockey League (circa 1967). Prior to that he organized a little league ball team in the Niverville District that competed against teams from Steinbach and St. Anne among others. Both organizations provided many young players the opportunity to play in a league and develop their skills. The family would like to thank the Chalet Malouin and South East Man Regional Health Authority for the care provided to our father. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Windsor Park United Church; 1062 Autumnwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB commencing at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. Ash Interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Maurice may be made to CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave Wpg MB R3G 3M3 www.cnib.ca
