Peacefully, in the loving arms of his wife and with his family at his side, Clarence Giesbrecht passed away on April 16, 2000 at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Virginia of 45 years, his daughters: Carol (Chuck Wilson) , Sandra (Garry Danylyshen), and his sons Vernon (Lorraine) , Wayne (Danielle) and Clifford (Tammy) and grandchildren Justin, Chelsea, Kaylyn, Ashley, Scott, Jordan and Brandon. Clarence was predeceased by his son Rodger in May of 1997, and by his daughter, Kathy Arroyo, who passed away on the same day as his passing. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Violet and Margaret, his brother Allen, and by his parents, Solomon and Katherine. Clarence was a jack of all trades, who accomplishments were many, but he was quietly proud of having built his own home. He was always making “things” for his entire family. After his retirement and up until his illness, Clarence continued to work as a part-time limousine driver and volunteered his free time for the Canadian Cancer Society. Clarence will be fondly remembered by his many friends, who were often the victims of his practical jokes. The family wishes to acknowledge with thanks all those who have given their support and encouragement during this difficult time. A special thanks to his daughter Kathy, who was able to give Clarence extra care and comfort, being a nurse by profession up until her untimely passing. Also a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Concordia Hospital, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clearance’s memory, to the Canadian Cancer Society. Viewing will be held tonight April 19th in the Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church 1011 Munroe Ave. East Kildonan from 7-8 p.m. and the Funeral Service on Thursday, April 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church with interment to follow in Glen Eden Cemetery.
