Obituary of Erdman Hiebert

Peacefully, on February 2, 2001 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Erdman T. Hiebert went to be with the Lord. His memory will be cherished by his six daughters, two sons and their families: Frieda (Jerry) Friesen - Mitchell, Alvina (Jack) Neufeld - Calgary, Dave (Edith) - Steinbach, Helen (Lorne) Kroeker - Steinbach, Sue (Allan) Hiebert - Steinbach, Rose (Jon) Janz - Winnipeg, Ken (Sylvia) - Mitchell, Cheryl (Patrick) Melosky -Steinbach, 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Anna Schroeder (Steinbach) and his sister-in-law, Helen Hiebert (Paraguay). He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1961, wife Helen in 1989, brother John in 1994, and sister Susie in 1999. He was born on March 12, 1920 to David K. and Anna Hiebert, and his life reflected the message in Isaiah 40:31 “They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” He touched many lives during his 30 years at C.T. Loewen’s. After retirement, he blessed us all with his woodworking talent and his gift for growing choice tomatoes, “The Tomato King of Ash Street”. He enjoyed driving around the countryside with his faithful companion, his dog Georgie. His later years were spent at Fernwood Apartments, Menno Home and Rest Haven. The family would like to thank the staff for their loving care given during these years. The funeral service will be held February 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover St. Internment will take place at the Mitchell Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
