Obituary of Joseph Gisiger

Joseph Gisiger passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2001-at Villa Youville Ste. Anne at the age of 76 years. He leaves in his memory his son Denis (Marlene Johnson) his daughter Joanne Emes (Yens) and his grandson Tyson Emes. He will also be remembered by Marlene’s daughter Sherri James (Darren) her son Jason Reimer (Marlow) and their sons John and Micheal. He is survived by two brothers, Luc (Lucille) and Jean (Jean Moore), four sisters, Elise Richard, Angêle Gobin (Antoine), Marguerite Gisiger and Helene Gregoire. Also left to mourn are brothers in law Joseph Grenier (Rolande), George Grenier (Irene), Paul Grenier, Hubert Grenier (Stella), Rosaire Grenier, Norbert Grenier (Lorraine), and sisters in law Alphonsine Mondor, Alexandrine Gerardy (Robert), Angeline Gagnon, Laurette Fontaine (Lucien), Esther Gagnon (Louis) and Denise Tourond (Adelard). He was predeceased by his wife Yvonne in December 2000, an infant son Noël, brothers in law Alexis Richard (Elise) and Louis Gregoire (Helene), sisters in law Clemence Comeault (Denis) and Noëllia Gerardy (Robert). Joseph was born on St. Labre where he spent most of his life. The eldest son in a family of seven he learned responsibility at a young age when his father passed away leaving him to help raise his younger brothers and sisters. In the 1950’s he worked in logging in Ontario and did some construction work in Winnipeg. He returned to St. Labre and married Yvonne Grenier also of St. Labre in 1957. The couple operated a dairy farm until 1987. They retired to a lot next to the family farm and lived there until illness made it necessary for him to move to the Villa Youville in Ste Anne. To the caregivers at the Villa we would like to give a sincere thank you for taking such good care of our Dad. We appreciate the kindness and the friendship given to him, his family and friends. Thank you! Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 16, 2001, 10:00 am at the St. Benoit Labre Catholic Parish in St. Labre, Man. Viewing prior to the service. Interment in the parish cemetery
