Obituary of Frank G. Reimer

Frank Goertzen Reimer, age: 78 of Blumenort, Manitoba, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ following a second battle with cancer; on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Edna and their daughter: Audrey and Bruno, three sons: Anthony and Susan, Marcel and Stanley, his grandchildren: Andrew, Luke, Ebony and Davis, Matthew, Paul, Robyn and Oliver and his great granddaughter, Sada, two brothers, two sisters and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother. Dad was born on May 18th, 1941 in Altona, MB. Dad spent his first 5 years in the home of his grandparents from which he had fond memories. For the next 8 years, he spent time in various foster homes. At the age of 13, he was adopted into the home of his mom, step dad and their children. Praise be to God, at the age of 20, Dad committed his life to Jesus and was changed! On June 15th, 1963, he married his sweetheart, Edna who had been a testimony of the grace of God and pointed Dad to Jesus. Together, they embarked on creating a Christian home for the four children God blessed them with. Dad was a hard-working man and every job that he took on was done carefully and done well. He worked a variety of jobs early on, from clearing bush to carpentry, but settled into working at Granny’s Poultry for about 35 years. Dad’s life took a drastic turn in 1991, when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He described it as: “the Lord putting a roadblock in my life … to stop for some soul searching.” It was a time of rededication to God and Dad was granted 28 more miracle years. We truly did notice a shift in Dad’s life after this experience. Dad was an overcomer. He experienced many challenges in his early childhood and yet he overcame these circumstances to become an amazing father. He experienced health challenges, but with God’s intervention, Dad overcame these to go on to live many more years. Ultimately, Dad placed his faith in Jesus, the one who has overcome death and is now enjoying the promise stated in Revelation 21: 6-7 “To him who is thirsty, I will give to drink from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.” A come and go viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Blumenort Community Church, Blumenort, MB., with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
