Anne Derksen On the morning of Monday, October 23, 2006, the angels escorted Anna (Anne) Derksen to her Lord and Savior, who she loved and served. She is also survived by her twin sister Margaret Esau of Grunthal, Frank and Margaret Martens of Waukesha, WI, Tina and Jerry Lemay of Grunthal, Ike and Helen Martens of Mitchell, and Rudy and Lorna Martens of Grunthal, along with the Derksen family and many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly, and whom she loved. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Tina Martens. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Karen Toews for the excellent care, for the nurse who cared for her with compassion in her 10 weeks of stay at the hospital. Thanks also to staff at CancerCare in Steinbach. The family appreciates all the prayers, meals, and acts of kindness in her two and a half year battle with cancer. Pallbearers are Wayne Esau, Curt Esau, Franz Martens, Greg Unrau, Nick Martens, and Dylan Martens. A public viewing will be held on Friday, October 27 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 7:00 PM with a devotional at 7:30. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 2:00 PM at the Bergthaler Church in Grunthal, with Pastor Andrew Wiebe officiating. Interment will be at the Grunthal Cemetery.
