She was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Dueck and stepfather John Schmidt, four brothers in infancy, sister Natalie at 11 years old, sister-in-law Mary Dueck, stepbrother Issac Schmidt, and stepbrother-in-law Abe Petkau. Anne was the first-born and grew up in Rosenort, MB. At age 17 she accepted the Lord as her Saviour and was baptized at the EMC Church July 14, 1946 by Bishop Jacob Kroeker. In 1948 her family moved to Mexico where she met her future husband Abram Plett. They were married August 6, 1950. After farming a couple of years, they helped out on the mission field in Picacho for a year. After that they moved to Riverton, MB where they farmed for a number of years. In 1985 they moved to Mitchell, MB; then to Steinbach and in 1998 to Blumenort. Mom enjoyed singing, quilting, and working at Ten Thousand Villages (MCC Gift Shop). In 1995 she suffered a major heart attack that required emergency heart by-pass. She never fully recovered from this. She was hospitalized a number of times. She was very thankful for all the prayers and love that were shared on her behalf. She was grateful for the EFC Church and the Blumenort EMC Church for their support. The family would also like to thank Dr. Grobler, Dr Kaethler, and the staff at Bethesda Hospital as well as all the health nurses and home care. The funeral service for Anna was held Friday, December 28, 2001 at the Blumenort Evangelical Mennonite Church. Interment at the Church Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Anna’s memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Blumenort EMC Missions. -The Family.
