Abe W. Martens of Grunthal, MB passed away to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2002 at 4:45 a.m. at the age of 63 years. Abe is survived by his children: Lydia Martens, Beverly Martens, Steven (Soutsady) Martens, Rosalee (Fern) Marqués, Pauline (Cameron) Barkman, Gary Martens, and Susanna Martens, 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Abe is also survived by four sisters: Margaret (John) Reimer, Tina (William) Giesbrecht, Helen (Jake) Friesen, Nettie (Ed) Dyck; four brothers: Peter (Sara), John (Irene), Frank, Nick (Terry), and brother-in-law Ben Dyck and his wife Marge. He was predeceased by his father Peter F. Martens on February 5, 1960, his mother Susanna Quiring on April 11, 1994, his sister Mary Dyck on February 8, 1989 and his sister Susie Wiebe on February 14, 1992. The funeral service for Abe W. Martens was held on April 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grunthal Evangelical Mennonite Church. The viewing was held Tuesday, April 2, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.
