Obituary of Jim Heinrichs

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jim Heinrichs on Monday, December 4, 2006, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB as a result of a ruptured brain aneurysm. Remaining to mourn are his loving wife Marilyn (Dueck) of Steinbach, MB and his daughter Jane of London, England; his sister Marianne (Herman) Janzen of Winnipeg, MB; his brother Paul (Micheline) of Wakefield, Quebec; his sister Lois (Art) Bergmann of Ste. Anne, MB; his father-in-law John R. Dueck of Steinbach, MB; his sisters-in-law Marcella (Steve) Parr, Cathy (Bruce) Reimer; Grace Dueck (Terry Klassen); brothers-in-law John (Jo) Dueck, David (Sheila) Mitchell-Dueck, Conrad (Ruth) Barber-Dueck, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Julius and Agnes Heinrichs, mother-in-law Tina Dueck, one niece and one nephew. Jim was born on October 16, 1948 in Leamington, Ontario to Julius and Agnes Heinrichs. Jim and Marilyn got married on June 28, 1974. They spent numerous years in Swaziland, Africa, where their daughter Jane was born, and in the Sudan, Africa; they lived in Winnipeg and then moved to Steinbach, MB, where Jim worked as a parts and service manager and later established his own agricultural equipment business called Wide Horizons together with Marilyn. Jim’s greatest joys were in spending time with Marilyn and Jane, reading, traveling, and riding his Honda CX500 motorbike. He was unfailingly kind and generous, a master of diplomacy and a mentor to many. His contemplative faith became the inspiration for every aspect of his life. Our thanks to the compassionate staff at the Health Sciences Centre Surgical Intensive Care Unit, to all the family and friends who contributed to his care and to the unknown angel who called 911 in his time of need. The memorial service will be held Friday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach. Donations may be made to the Evangelical Seminary of Southern Africa, 10 Huntingdale Blvd., Scarborough, ON M1W 2S5
