Peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2006, David P. Doerksen of Steinbach passed away at the Bethesda Hospital at the age of 80. Dad was born January 4, 1926 in the Plum Coulee area, the second eldest of seven children of David G and Helena Doerksen. June 29, 1950 Dad married Mom in Sommerfeld Colony, Paraguay. Dad is survived by five children: Helen (Cornie) Fehr of Steinbach, Willie Doerksen of Winnipeg, Dennis (Diana) Doerksen of Renton, WA, Linda (Arley) Barkman of Ridgewood and Stan (Cari) Doerksen of Steinbach as well as eleven grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers Henry Derksen of Surrey, BC and George (Erna) Doerksen of Paraguay and two sisters Helen Sedo of Winnipeg and Mary (Ben) Friesen of Steinbach. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, one son Eddie, one brother and one sister. We as a family would like to thank the staff at Rest Haven as well as the nursing staff and Dr. Duerksen from Steinbach Bethesda Hospital for all the care they provided. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 7 p.m. with at devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in New Bothwell.
