It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father and GiGi Taras Edward Patrick of Thompson, MB on Dec. 31, 2006 at the age of 71 after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Joan (Henzel), son Derrick (Cathy), daughter Wendy (Dan) Melnyk, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren all of Thompson and brothers Joe (Lillian), Walter (Natalie), Leonard, and Eugene (Ardine). He was predeceased by his father Michael (March 1959), his mother Emily (Nov 12, 1990), father-in-law Carl Henzel (Aug 23, 1985), brother Roman (Jan 8, 1994) and two sisters-in-law Kay (Oct 2002) and Sally (March 9, 2006). He was born Dec. 10, 1935 in Sarto, MB and moved to Thompson on Nov 18, 1961 to work at Inco. On Aug 7, 1965 he married Joan Henzel and they resided in Thompson through his retirement (April 30, 1994) and until his passing. Viewing will take place Thurs, Jan 4, 2007 at 7 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach. The funeral Service will be held Fri, Jan 5 at 10 a.m. at the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sarto, MB with burial to follow at the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Sarto.
