Obituary of George Janzen

Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa was called to his heavenly home on February 6, 2007. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan, five children: Eva (Abe Hildebrand), Kathy (Henry Neudorf), Henry (Carol), Peter (Jackie), and Ed (Laverne), nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, two brothers, one grandson and one daughter-in-law. George was born in Russia and immigrated to Canada in 1925. His family settled in the Stuartburn area where he met and married Susan Peters in 1939. Together they raised five children. During his lifetime, he worked at the flour mill in Gardenton and spent a number of years in the trucking business. In 1957, the family moved to Winnipeg where he established Janzen Auto Sales. He developed close relationships with his many customers. He and Mom retired to Carman in 1990. As his health declined, they moved back to Winnipeg in 2005 to be nearer to their family. He was very proud of his family and the one–on–one conversations were always special to him. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Our sincere thanks to the staff of Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach. Interment to follow at Stuartburn Cemetery.
