Wilhelm (Bill Sr.) Giesbrecht passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on February 17th 2007 at the age of 70. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Anne, two sons, Bill Jr (Joyce) Giesbrecht, Jeff (Darlene) Giesbrecht and one daughter Marlene (Larry) Charette, one son-in-law Philip Friesen and 19 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren with the 7th on the way. He is also survived by one sister Mary Bouvette. He was predeceased by one daughter Shirley May Friesen in 2004, one sister Frieda in 2006 and his best friend Bill McMurchy. Bill was the 3rd child born to Wilhelm and Augusta (nee Schalla) Giesbrecht on May 10 1936. He grew up in the Steinbach area. On October 11, 1958 he married Anne Reimer in Steinbach at the Lutheran Parsonage on Hanover Street. Together they had four beautiful children. He always enjoyed fishing with his best friend John Dyck, gardening, picking berries, or even puttering in the garage. Later in life he also enjoyed helping Bill Jr at his small engine repair business, or making birdhouses for all of Anne’s birds. The family would like to thank Dr. Thiessen and the staff at Bethesda Hospital, and Dr. Vailet, Nurse Colleen and the staff at St. Boniface. The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, February 21 at 2 p.m. with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.
