With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul Peter Bezditny on February 19, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63, at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents William and Mary, his in-laws Jacob and Maria Wall, and nephew Matthew Hoshowski. Those who cherish his memory are his wife, Mary, son Rick (Rachel), daughter Lori Forest (Claude), daughter Terri Braun (Casey) and son Russ (Michelle); and grandchildren Patrick, Melanie, Rebecca, Elissa, Zachary, Maxine, Sarah, Megan, Katelyn, Chelsea, Kyle, Nicholas, Joshua, Alexa, Renae, and Lauren. Special mention to Solange, his sister Maryann Hoshowski (Walter) and nephew Corey, and numerous brother and sister-in-laws and their families. Paul was born December 20, 1943, in Pansy, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm – farming and trucking along side his father. He was married May 16, 1964 to Mary Wall. They resided on the farm till 1979, when they moved to Grunthal, MB. Over the next 25 years, Dad worked several different jobs…the last at Hanover School Division. A job he enjoyed greatly because of the people he worked with. Dad was an avid gardener but, his passions were hunting and fishing with his family and friends. One of Dad’s highlights was Patrick’s first fishing trip and another was Zach shooting his first moose at the age of 12. He longed to hunt with all his grandsons. He loved watching the grandchildren play sports, fish, and plant a garden. He was so proud of each of them. Dad enjoyed a good game of cards, family around the table and a good piece of chocolate pie. He enjoyed going to the lake with Ron and Margaret. We will miss his sense of humor and unconditional love. Dad, we as a family, will continue our annual fishing and hunting trips. You will be greatly missed and not forgotten. Special thanks for the outstanding care Dad received from the GA Ward, 5th floor and the Health Sciences Centre support staff and the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital main floor staff. We are grateful to all the people who came to visit Dad and prayed for him. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Thursday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. with prayers to follow at 7:30. Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 23, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church, Grunthal, MB, with interment to follow at the St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Lunch will be served at Pansy Hall immediately following interment. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Tribes Mission for Dave & Lena Chapman, serving in Papua New Guinea.
