Howard Henry Giesbrecht was born in Winkler in 1940 to Cornelius and Helena (Ginter) Giesbrecht. He was the oldest of seven children. The Giesbrecht's moved around a lot in their early years. When in his early twenties, Howard moved to Saskatchewan for work until returning to Barkfield, Manitoba in 1963 to marry the love of his life Tina Schellenberg on July 27. They moved to Winnipeg where he worked at Simpson's Transfer and they had their first child Christopher. They decided that small town life was a better choice to raise a family and so they moved and settled in Steinbach where they had two more children, Roberta and Patrick. Howard worked at Friendly Family Farms for well over 30 plus years until they closed their doors. Later he worked for Eastman Recycling for a number of years until he became ill.
While raising their family in Steinbach Howard filled his leisure time as a member of the Kinsman Club, equipment manager of the Steinbach Mets and the Steinbach Huskies hockey team, golfing, fishing with his grandchildren, camping with his family and family get togethers. In his latter years he was most often found reading his bible.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing prior to the service at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with interment at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
In lieu of flowers, or if family and friends so desire, donations can be made to Recreation Opportunities for Children (ROC) Eastman.
The family would like a thank Dr Krahn, Debbie Krahn and the health care team that took such great care of Howard in his time of need.
