Obituary of Mary-Ann Ste. Marie

Peacefully on March 4, 2007, Mary-Ann passed away at the age of 71 in Ste. Anne Hospital. Mary-Ann was born July 3, 1935. She was predeceased by both her parents William and Mina Sayers and her husband Gerard. Mary-Ann’s memory will be cherished and never forgotten by her seven children: Suzanne (James Penner), James (Marielle), Brian (Pam), Janet (Donald Gregoire), Kathy, Elizabeth (Fabian Penner), and Tracy (Richard Carriere); 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary-Ann is also survived by her two brothers Ron (Dorothy) and Larry (Margaret) Oakley. She will be sadly missed by her numerous neighbors and friends, especially Emil Mutula who she enjoyed spending time with. Mary-Ann worked on the farm for many years and raised seven children. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and reading novels. She especially could be found in front of the TV watching wrestling on Monday and Friday nights. Mary-Ann also worked at the Hadashville Nursery until she retired. Sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Riverview Health Centre and the Ste. Anne Hospital, Sister Rioux for her many visits and the numerous volunteer Palliative Care and Home Care personnel who helped us with her care during her time in Ste. Anne Hospital. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Notre Dame De Lorette Parish on Thursday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at 1:30 p.m. Father René Chartier will be presiding. A lunch will follow after the service at the Seine River Banquet Hall (Legion Hall) in Ste. Anne. Interment at Ste. Anne Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Association, 200 - 6 Donald Street; Wpg., MB R3L 0K6 or to The Lung Assoc, 629 McDermot Avenue; Wpg., MB R3A 1P6
