Obituary of Claude Bruce

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claude, age 84, on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Villa Youville, Ste. Anne, MB.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Laurie (Jeannette), Karen (Dan) Ilchyna, Dennis (Anita), Ken (Nicole), 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and sister Edmee (Al) Comstock.

He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth, stillborn son, Jack, parents Eugene and Clarina (Hogue) and siblings Marie, Azarie, Joseph, Gustave, Patrice, Emile, Bertha, Eugenie, Alexander, Adrien, Annette, Albini, Antoinette, Marcel and Leo.

Claude was guided each and every day by his Catholic faith, providing him with strength and direction throughout his life. He was kind-hearted, playful and loved to tell jokes; often seen offering smiles and winks.

Spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren, brought him great joy. He loved participating in and watching sports including hockey, baseball and boxing, the outdoors, and travel, especially to the mountains. As a descendent of Metis leader, John Bruce, he was very proud of his Métis heritage.

Our family would like to extend a warm thank you to the Villa Youville staff who provided compassionate care and support to our dad since January 2016 and a special thank you to Sister Irène Rioux for her love, support and blessings to our dad and family.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Anne MB. Video will precede the funeral service at 3:15 p.m. with ash interment to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Claude may be made to Villa Youville, 15 Charriere Rd. Ste. Anne, MB R5H 1C9.
