I worked with Charlene at Sobeys and I have very fond memories of working evening shifts with her. I recall on my birthday one year she made a special announcement for customers coming through my till to wish me a happy birthday. It made my day! I haven't been in contact with her for many years, but she holds a special place in my heart.

My deepest sympathy for your family's loss of Charlene, especially for Sam, and her little angels, Josiah and Isaiah. Charlene was an awesome co-worker at WHRC, tirelessly making life easier and better for families, newcomers, and all tenants. Not only did she help with all manner of tenant concerns, she was responsible for the creation of community gardens, soccer for kids, movie and craft afternoons, tenant bbq's, senior bingos, fitness and festive dinners, and other endeavours too numerous to mention. When you heard the pop and fizz of a cola can being opened in her cubicle each morning, you knew Charlene was in the building. Rest in peace, Charlene...I will remember you.

The first photo is of Sam, Charlene, my husband Kyle, and I at my sister in laws wedding. We were pumped to have a night out, twin free, and we danced to Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. Second photo is our last play date together. Char was making sure each of our 5 kids (combined) had a truck to play with. That day all 5 kids wandered to Josiah and Isaiah’s room and played quietly together, so Char and I could have a full uninterrupted conversation - something very hard to come by with so many kids aged 3 and under! That day was such a gift. Char meant so much to me. She brought me to Jesus, encouraged me, and poured love over me and my family. I miss her more than words could ever say. We are praying for Charlenes entire family, and sending all our love their way.

Charlene was a big sister to me, ensuring that I stood up for myself, made bold decisions, cautioned me when I needed counsel, and just spent a wonderful amount of girl time chatting and having fun! I remember making sure that she and Sam went to Expendables to meet up together. He was busy, but decided to go after I confirmed she would go too. She hated those kinds of movies, but was told Sam would be there. So she went. So many laughs, sarcastic jokes, and treats were shared among us (all three). Love you my friend. ❤️
