Obituary of Patricia Bernhardsen

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Patricia Bernhardsen on December 2, 2019 at the age of 69.

Left to mourn are her children Kathy Britton (Kelly), Darren Wellbrock (Andrea), her grandchildren, Brody (Michelle), Karmen and Taran Britton, Cole, Ryder, Rogan, Rudy and Jaret Wellbrock, and Brandon and Liam Bissonnette, as well as extended family, friends and those whose hearts she touched.

She was predeceased by her parents Etienne and Marie Perret as well as her husband Keith Bernhardsen.

Patricia was born in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan. She grew up and resided in Swift Current until September 1992 when she married Keith Bernhardsen. They spent many wonderful years together living in Jackson, Wyoming and later in Upstate  New York. Their life was full of adventures, but their greatest passion was the love they shared for their many dogs. Tragically Keith’s life was taken in June 2018.

Patricia moved back to Canada in August to be closer to her family after her cancer diagnosis. Sadly, she lost her battle after only four months.

Patricia had a wonderful zest for life and a great sense of humour. She was small in stature but she was mighty, there was no challenge too big for her to take on. She faced all of life’s adversities with unwavering strength and courage. There seemed to be nothing that she couldn’t do. She was artistic and athletic, enjoying softball, hockey, basketball, karate and bodybuilding. You never seemed to find her inactive unless of course “Days of our lives” was on. She loved time outdoors spending countless hours walking her dogs to ensure they were happy and healthy, their needs always came before those of her own.

We would like to thank the staff at Vita hospital where she spent her final weeks, for their wonderful care. You made her final stage of life as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Our family finds comfort in knowing that she is free of her pain and suffering. We pray that she is reunited with Keith and that they are once again out walking their dogs.

A private family celebration of her life will take place on December 8th.

In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill.

In lieu of flowers, should you wish to honour her life, a donation to your local animal shelter or rescue would be greatly appreciated.
