Obituary of Emma Kuehn
On Thursday, December 19, 2019, Emma Kuehn (nee Sass), on her 91st birthday, lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba.
While we mourn her death, we take comfort in knowing she will be welcomed with open arms by Jake, to her eternal home in heaven.
Emma was born on December 19, 1928 in Morris, Manitoba. She grew up in Friedensfeld and married the love her life on October 18, 1946 and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Emma and Jake resided on a homestead close to La Broquerie, where they raised their only son Lawrence and later moved to Steinbach at the time of their retirement. Shortly after Jake’s passing, she moved to Fernwood Place and resided there for 15 years, until her recent battle with uterine cancer.
In her younger years, Emma enjoyed gardening, pickling, canning, cooking, cycling, playing cards, snowmobiling in the winter, and social evenings in La Broquerie where she loved to dance. In her later years, she cherished family events, especially going to the family cottage on the weekends during the summer months.
Emma is survived by her only son Lawrence Kuehn (Diane), grandsons Mark Kuehn (Daniela) and David Kuehn, great-grandchildren Angel Kuehn and Mark Kuehn Jr. and one great-great-grandson, Jaxx Kuehn.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kornelson, the medical staff at Bethesda Hospital, the nurses and the wonderful homecare aides at Fernwood Place for taking extraordinary care of Emma.
The celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba, with a time of viewing beginning at 1:15 p.m. Reception to follow in the reception hall. Ash interment at a later date.
