Obituary of Tineke Vonderbank

“A life well lived, leaving an amazing legacy”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom and oma on Sunday, February 9^th, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband Hein of 54 years in 2011 and her son Jan in 1985. She leaves behind her children Nico (Jean Carr, Lucas and Kate) Mieke (Mark Langstaff, Yolanda) Hanneke (Jack Greenberg, Sarah, Jonah and Sam) Kitty (Mitch Tetrault, Kristina, Erika and Alex) and Marijke (Robert Gagnon, Riley and Annie).

Tineke was born on May 19^th, 1933 in Oud Wetering, the Netherlands. She was the youngest of 6 children born to Jan and Gezina Zoet. On July 4^th, 1957 she married her husband Hein Vonderbank. They raised their 6 children in Breezand, the Netherlands until they moved to Canada in 1980 to pursue their dream of owning a dairy farm.

Tineke was a homemaker and she raised her 6 children with love.  She was a hard worker and provided a caring and welcoming home. She instilled in us the importance of family, her appreciation for nature, and her love of animals.  Besides spending time with her family, Tineke loved to work in the greenhouse, play cards, bake and cook, swim and she was a great seamstress. Once her children were grown, she volunteered at the local food bank and nursing home. 

In her last 12 years of life, although her mind was affected by Alzheimer’s, her body stayed strong till the end. We would like to thank the staff at Resthaven nursing home for all their care over the past nine years.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 22^nd,  2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 PTH 52W, Steinbach, MB.
