Obituary of Bernardine Joanne Plett

Bernardine Plett, born April 11, 1936, aged 83 of Steinbach, MB., passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at her residence.

 

She is survived by her beloved husband, Rev. Cornelius Plett and their daughters Peggy Anderson (Grant), Pauline Loewen (Cliff); their sons, Danny Plett (Sherri), David Plett (Junia); 2 brothers, Clint Toews (Pearl), Chris Toews (Laverne); 13 grandchildren, 4 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law and 21 great grandchildren.

 

She was predeceased by her sister Valrae Toews, and her daughter-in-law Lenore Plett (David).

 

She was married on June 24, 1956 to Cornelius Plett of Steinbach, MB.  She was a gifted singer, quilter, loving mother and faithful wife. 

 

She was a woman of deep faith and loved to share it with those she came in contact with.   She had a brilliant smile and a warm, loving character always looking out for the needs of her husband, children and others, reaching out to individuals in need of love.  Her family was a source of great joy to her and she loved nothing more than to interact with and entertain her children and their spouses and her grandchildren in her home.

 

Viewing by invitation only will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2020 between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.


A private family service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with livestream available for those who wish to join at the time of the service. Interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. 

 

A graveside service will be held at the Heritage Cemetery after the funeral, at approximately 4:15 p.m. To take part in the service we request that you stay in your cars and listen with your windows open. At the graveside the short service will be broadcast through a PA system.
