Obituary of Doris Ethel Ketler

Doris Ethel Ketler (nee Penner), November 18, 1928, passed away peacefully in her recliner on Easter Monday, April 13, 2020.

Doris was the last remaining member of the M.M. Penner family, and is survived by one special sister-in-law, Evelyn Penner. She leaves behind her four children: James (Ruth), Joanell (Don), Marj and Patti, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy! At 91 she still loved to get down on the floor and play with the little ones.

She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years, Henry R. Ketler.

Every morning Mom started her day by taking out her bible and spending time talking to God. She also enjoyed listening to the radio, puzzling, and coloring.  Mom loved to crochet, making afghans for the kids, and in later years knitting over 1000 Izzy dolls for children around the world.

Doris loved to be on the telephone, visiting and catching up with family and old friends. Her nieces were very special to her and they enjoyed many coffee dates and outings over the years. 

This last year mom lived at Cedarwood. She was so well taken care of and we are so appreciative of all the wonderful caregivers there.

When Cedarwood went into lockdown, her grandkids and great-grandkids came up with fun and creative ideas to entertain Mama at the window; snowmen, soccer games and dance parties were a real highlight for her in these last few weeks.

Funeral arrangements are on hold, until we can all gather together again.

The family of Doris Ketler created a virtual tribute/funeral to share with those that would have liked to attend the service.
