Susan and Terry Wiebe posted a condolence

Our deepest condolences to Uncle Max, Mark, Angie and their families. Terry and I were just remembering going to Susan and Max's home after the Steinbach parades. I was always amazed at the number of people there, and how smoothly Susan managed everything. Every so often, we would get a phone call from her--we were privileged to be on her prayer list. We know you will miss her terribly, even though you know she is with her Lord. We will keep you all in our prayers. --Terry and Susan Wiebe

Susan took a new resident to Emmanuel and to Steinbach under her wings, when she found out I was a writer who'd left her audience in the US where we'd lived for twelve years. She waited patiently for each successive book in the series, reminding me that a gold sticker "Autographed Copy" was not to be forgotten. Her encouragement to my writing gift will long be remembered. Thank you, Schalla family, for sharing her with us.

What a lovely obituary and so very, very true. I was one of those people she loved, for no reason other than that I needed it. As a missionary kid, I returned to Canada at 18 with no family and nowhere to go. Together with the rest of the family, she took me in and gave me a home. Even after I moved away, married, and had kids of my own, she continued to call, to pray for me and my family, and to remember my birthday and anniversary. Steinbach will not be the same without her! My deepest condolences on your loss.

Our condolences to Uncle Max, Mark, Angie and familys. What a huge loss for you all. I remember her coming to Edmonton last summer for an anniversary celebration and Bruce and I enjoyed her so much. My friend Lucie was with us and Lucy remembers laughing and laughing. Great loss for us but I know when God took her and received her into his Kingdom he said "Well done my good and faithful servant". We will miss her terribly.

So very sorry for your loss, Max, Mark and Ang. Susan always made a point of connecting with me, both as a child on my many visits to your home and as an adult. What a remember the most is her dedication to prayer. She always shared with me that she was praying for whatever was going on in my life at the time. I will miss our little chats and mostly the prayer warrior that I had by my side. "Well done, good and faithful servant"

The picture I posted is from last Friday when aunt Susan came for coffee before 0900. We had a great chat and a good laugh. I gave her some yummy lemon poppyseed loaf with her coffee. I asked her if she wanted to take some home. She said yes but she needed pieces from the centre no crusts. She laughed and then apologized. I said no need to apologize at least I knew what she wanted and I could fill her wish. Aunt Susan even though we didn’t get to take our trip together I was honoured you asked me. You now have the freedom to see God’s world from a greater viewpoint.
Will miss you terribly. Give a big hug to my mom aunt Mary Ann and Bertha.

My condolences go out to the family. Praying God’s peace would flood your hearts. I had the pleasure of getting to know Susan through my grandparents (Peter and Gertrude Klassen). I served for many of the dinner parties my grandparents held, and Max and Susan were always on the guest list. I enjoyed chatting with Susan at these events. She was always interested in what was happening in my life, even as a teenager she acknowledged me and made me feel important. She would always stop and chat even when I met up with her in public as an adult. I know she will be missed.

Being out in BC, I didn't see Aunt Susan often, but she always made sure that I & the rest from out of town were welcome, whether it was a place to stay or with food. She always showed her love of family in various ways, & she had a good sense of humour.
She will be greatly missed, & my prayers are with Uncle Max, Mark, Angie, & their families, as well as with my mom, her only remaining sibling.
