I came across Ed's obituary in the Carillon. I didn't know he had died. I chatted with him some years back when I was doing research for my memoir/biography, Dad, God, and Me. My dad officiated at Ed and Lydia's wedding, and they were so kind as to share the recording of that event with me. Lydia, I am sorry for your loss and wish you comfort. -- Ralph Friesen

To Lydia and family,
We will miss our Tuesday morning "coffee buddy". His bright smile and his slow dry wit was appreciated by all. We were sorry that his health caused him to miss quite a few of our informal sessions but we take comfort in the fact that he is now beyond hurt, beyond worry and in a place of perfect peace and we offer you that comfort as well. To Lydia, Candace, Russ, Rog, Patrick and families:
My sincerest condolences in the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He always had a big smile that reflected a warm heart. I have wonderful childhood memories of your family as neighbours and friends in Steinbach. The family chain is now broken but linked forever with the fondest of memories of the one you have just lost.
Love to you all,
Arlene Rempel

ALthough separated by huge distances for most of our lives, whenever we did meet at funerals or cousin luncheons, Eddie's beaming smile and some funny remark would re- establish the deep sense of kinship. Invariably it felt like a gift that warmed my heart. Denis and I are so sorry for your loss.

Anne and I would like to extend our condolences, Lydia to you and the family during this difficult time of loss. i remember your family from back in the 70's. Eddy is the reason i was able to earn a living selling farm equipment. he gave me a chance to prove myself. i appreciated that very much and i have enjoyed working with farm machinery. he hired me in 1975 November 1 and i am still in the business today.
may you feel and sense the hand of god during this time.
