Obituary of Annie Patrick

Peacefully, with family by her side, we announce the passing of Annie Patrick (nee Pidsadny) our beloved mother, Baba/grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend, on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at the Resthaven Nursing Home, at the age of 107 years and 7 months.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters Elsie Stadnyk, Marion Marynowski (Gene), Janet Taylor; son Brian Patrick (Cindi); sister-in-law Sophie Pidsadny and daughter-in-law Violet Patrick.  She is also survived by grandchildren Larry (Jeannie), Dale, Sheri, Burton, Calvin, Braydyn, Shayli and Saige; great-grandchildren Amanda (Dennis) and Brenden (Kara-Dawn); great-great-grandchildren Harlem and Atley, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Annie was predeceased by her husband William, son Raymond, parents Nastasia and John Pidsadny, sons-in-law Walter and Glen, and grandson Nathan; five sisters: Barbara, Maria, Mary, Helen, Margaret and three brothers: Fred, Peter and Jim.

Annie was born on December 8, 1912 in Pansy, MB. She was the oldest, and last surviving family member, of the Pidsadny family. She married Bill on October 20, 1934 and lived on the family farm in Sarto, MB, where she took great pride in her garden. Baba had a love for animals and could always be seen caring for them, whether it be checking on the cows/horses or keeping Blondie indoors in the cold winter months. Baba had a passion for mushroom picking and would do that while checking on the cattle. Baba gave many years to her community and church. She got great satisfaction by donating her time and skills to causes close to her heart.

Mom was an amazing role model for us and all our children. Baba was most proud of her Ukrainian culture and instilled the vibrant traditions, colourful dances and delicious Ukrainian dishes into our lives. She had so many talents and was admired for her strength and her ability to be so resourceful. Her family was her focus and so many others were fortunate to experience her kindness, caring and unconditional love in their lives. Her farm and her extraordinary hospitality was the hub of countless family and friend gatherings, positive energy and so much love and laughter. You never left Baba’s house hungry or empty handed!

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Larry Stadnyk, Dale Stadnyk, Sheri Marynowski, Brady Patrick, Shayli Patrick and Saige Patrick. Honourary pallbearer is Nathan Taylor.

A public service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 West, Steinbach, MB., with Rev. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Sarto, MB

The family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Cedarwood, Vita PCH and the Resthaven Nursing Home for caring so lovingly and compassionately for Annie.
