Elma Drzewiec (nee Freund), aged 93 of Winnipeg, MB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

She will be sadly missed by: her children Larry Stadnyk (Janet), Brenda Stadnyk (Jill), Roberta Pusnik (Gord); her sister Norma Lyndon and sister-in-law Linda Freund; grandchildren Casey and Lucas Stadnyk, Jackie Hopkins, and great-grandchildren Jayden and Reid Hopkins; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Kaz, son Dennis, brothers Freddie and Roy, sisters Joyce and Elsie, brothers-in-law Ed Lyndon, Mel Mehling, and Dan Schilke, parents Helene and Rudolf, stepmom Paulina.

Mom was born in Steinbach and grew up on the family farm in Friedensfeld. Until recently, Mom was still staying in her own home in Winnipeg with the help of home care. She took pride in her house and in earlier years loved planting her flowers every year. When she would ask one of us to take her shopping for her flowers and plants, better bring a truck, her yard looked like a park. Mom loved playing cards and whenever anyone came over she said lets play a game of skip bo. Mom was loved by everyone who knew her, she was a special lady. Mom’s faith was very strong, even in her last moments, she was at peace.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery, R.M. of Hanover, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elma may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
