Obituary of Wilma Margaret Friesen

Wilma Friesen (nee Stobbe), aged 86 years, of Steinbach MB., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

She is survived by her five daughters through marriage, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother, three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 17 years, John P. Friesen, her parents, Peter and Marie Stobbe (Harder), brothers, Vernon and Elmer, sister Lillian and nephew Russel.

Wilma had a heart for people. She became a pediatric nurse and from there moved on to be a Director of Nursing staff in senior homes. She had a love for baking, sewing, needlework, knitting, gardening, traveling and reading, but most of all for her family.

She was involved in several community clubs, including the Bowling Club, Back to the Bible and Gideons. She loved the Fernwood community and attended the MB Church.

Wilma loved to laugh and could often be found with a smile on her face. She was a caregiver to many and had a compassionate personality, she was determined right until the end and was a friend to all.

The private memorial service, by invitation only, will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with an ash interment to follow in Abbotsford, BC., at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wilma may be made to the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.
