We knew him as “Uncle Willy” even though he was my Dad’s cousin (Ike Kopeschny). I have many wonderful memories of him and Mary visiting us in Ontario.. always full of many stories and laughter. He even stayed with us at the cottage at Round Lake, helping us parge the chimney while he was there. We also have one of his beautiful paintings adorning the wall there. The video clip of him opening a cold one on a fishing trip was when my husband (Jurgen Heinrichs) and my Dad went fishing with him on one of our visits to Winnipeg. So many great memories. I only wish we could have lived closer and known him better. His love for the Lord certainly shone through! Sending our condolences. Jurgen and Marlene Heinrichs

Sending condolences from ontario. I enjoyed a great fishing trip with Uncle Willy to the Whiteshell area. I want to add that a day is coming that we will enjoy shore lunch again in heaven . John 21 shows that Jesus even loves fishermen.

Dear family of Willy,
I Anni (Neufeld) Willms, a cousin, met Willy and Mary for the first time on our visit in 1965 with my parents, my older siblings have memories of Willy when they were living in Ukraine. Later we visited many times when they came to Ontario for cousin parties, weddings etc. When my children were still small we enjoyed staying at their house on our visit to Winnipeg. Especially great memories we have when they hosted the cousin party in Winnipeg, we had a wonderful time! On one visit to Ontario we were fortunate to have Mary and Willy stay at our house for a couple days.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and may God comfort you at this time of sorrow.

Our Uncle Willy...always the life of the party. Gregarious comes to mind. Also generous! We loved coming over for a swim on a hot day. I remember him taking us all goldeye fishing once. We were catching fish all night long. It was so exciting! He was also full of compliments. I know my mom would prepare things because she knew Uncle Willy loved and appreciated them. He will be missed. Our sincere condolences.

Ron, Harold, Diana and families- I’ll always remember Uncle Willy as the “fun uncle “. I imagine there may have been a ruckus in heaven when he re-united with Aunt Mary and Lorie. Thinking of you all, Angela
