Obituary of Willy Kopeschny

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Willy Kopeschny, aged 89, left this earth to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday October 13, 2020.

His memory will be cherished by his children Ron (Shelley), Harold (Donna), Diana (Gil), his dear grandchildren and great grandchildren Chelsey (Chris) Charlie and Cole,  Rebecca, Virginia (Richard) Liliana, Mike, Wendy, Raymond, and David (Natasha).  Also his siblings Ferdy (Lorraine), Alvin (Eileen), Elsa, Annalora (Phil), Edward and many other family.  He was predeceased by brother Ewald, sister Elizabeth, his parents, daughter Lorie, wife Mary and sister Erna.

Willy was born  August 23, 1931 to Ignatz and Anna Kopeschny in Kronstal Ukraine. Eight siblings followed.  Because Willy was the oldest and for the love of his family, Willy helped in many ways to provide for his large family.  The family immigrated to Canada in January 1949.  He married the love of his life Mary Loewen June 13th, 1953.  Willy accepted Christ as his personal Saviour at the age of 18 and loved attending church ever since.  In his later years he especially loved to see the many children come to the front of the church.

Willy had many talents and hobbies including fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening, painting landscapes, travelling and cooking.  Fishing was at the top of the list and he remembered his Dad teaching him how to fish as a very young boy. He loved watching sports on TV especially hockey with his two sons. He was an extremely hard worker and had a very successful stucco company: Kopeschny Plastering Ltd.

A private family funeral service will be held Monday, October 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
