Obituary of Anita Kasper

Anita Kasper (nee Rempel) our beloved mother, passed way suddenly at her residence at the age of 91 on November 28, 2020. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Neil in August 2019.

Left to mourn her passing are daughters Sharon (Bill - recently deceased) Reynolds, Linda and Jan Bass, Janet and Charlie Payjack, Joanne and Derek Oliver; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anita was born and raised in Grunthal, MB. Mom and dad were married in 1950 and enjoyed 69 years together. Mom cherished family times spent with her 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Anita is survived by her brothers Ed (Sylvia), Walter (Norma) and sister Margaret (Fred) as well as sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Valerie.

Mom always loved to sew and read, but her passion was quilting. Mom remained fiercely independent and welcomed learning new technology. Some words from her grandchildren are testimony to what kind of person our mom was.

“You were a strong, happy, healthy woman. You had such a broad knowledge and a big, beautiful heart. You had such a good sense of humour. All the holidays celebrated at your place were epic, filled with great times and memories. You were the model of a strong, smart and gentle woman. I am so sad and heartbroken that you’re gone but I know you’re with Grandpa who I’m sure was waiting to guide you to heaven. I hope you are both happy and pain free. I love you so much.”

“You taught me the value of tending garden vegetables, cooking traditional recipes from scratch and generosity. I’m forever fortunate that I had so many years with you to learn gratitude, the impact of big hugs, and how important family is. I’m sorry I never had the chance to get one last spine-popping squeeze before you left us to be with grandpa. Rest in Peace, Grandma.”

“I wasn’t ready for you to leave. I never got to say goodbye or give you one last hug and kiss. You were one amazing lady on earth, and you are going to be a darn good angel. But you are with Grandpa now. You are with your love. You will be missed Grandma. I know you are here with us even though we can’t see you anymore. Fly high sweet angel.”

“Grandma, we missed a lot of time…I’ve never felt that you’ve loved us any less than you ever would. You and grandpa welcomed me as if I had been there all along. Your kind heart and openness has had an everlasting impact. I’m grateful for the time that we had to spend with you. The fact that you had a part in my children’s lives means more than the world to me. We will miss you.”

When I am Gone

When I come to the end of my journey

And I travel my last weary mile,

Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned

And remember only the smile,

Forget unkind words I have spoken;

Remember some good I have done,

Forget that I ever had heartache

And remember I’ve had lots of fun.

Forget that I have stumbled and blundered

And sometimes fell by the way,

Remember I have fought

Some hard battles and won,

Ere the close of the day,

Then forget to grieve for my going,

I would not have you sad for a day,

But in summer just gather some flowers,

And remember the place where I lay

And come in the evening

When the sun paints the sky in the west,

Stand for a few moments beside me

And remember only my best.
