Phyllis Krentz

Obituary of Phyllis Krentz

It is with great love and sadness that we say goodbye to Phyllis Krentz, 71, of Steinbach, MB. Phyllis passed away peacefully after a short illness, on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

Phyllis is lovely remembered by her husband Raymond of 54 years; children: Myron and Carol Krentz, Sheri, and Clint Warwick, and Barb and Craig Sylvester, grandchildren: Wayne (Danis), Dylan, Avery, Polly, Melissa (Jeff), Alicia, Ariana, Jon, Kaitlin (Rob), and Samantha; great-grandchildren: Emily (Steve), Ellie, Jocelyn, Aurora, and great-great-grandchild Ezekiel.

Phyllis was born to Dan and Tiena Harder, April 16, 1949. Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Ray, and together they shared 54 loving years of marriage and three children. Mom was a devoted wife and mother and stayed home during her children’s early years, and later joined the workforce. Mom worked at Manitoba Hydro, where she retired after 25 years. During her career, she was given the opportunity to relocate to Thompson, where she spent several years working and enjoying life. During their time in Thompson, Mom and Dad would camp, fish, and enjoy boat rides on the lake. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling together and made many happy memories on trips to Hawaii, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. In 2006, after Mom retired, they moved back to Steinbach excited to start the next stage of their life.

Mom and Dad grew a big garden, that they would work on together every day in the summer. If they weren’t in the garden you would find them in their gazebo, relaxing after a hard day’s work. She was not one to sit idle. Mom was proud of the garden and loved being able to give her family her fresh vegetables. Mom enjoyed baking, cooking, and canning, and made the best borscht. If you went over for a quick visit you would walk out with fresh vegetables, pickles, her borscht, and her fresh baking. She always wanted to make sure her family was taken care of. In the winter, she loved watching hockey, and she planned her day around game times, especially if the Jets were playing.

Mom, you were so strong, and you never complained. You never stopped taking care of your family. You continued to be a great wife and mom through it all.

Mom, you will be missed by many. Until we meet again Mom. We love you.

Thank you to all the staff at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at St Boniface Hospital for your loving care to our Mom and to our family.

Cremation has taken place.
