Obituary of Peter Allen Braun

Our beloved Peter, age 59, has journeyed on. He passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Chalet Malouin, St.Malo, MB.

Peter was born July 26, 1961, in St. Pierre, MB., into a loving family home in Grunthal.  His Mother predeceased him when he was just three years old.

He had a new home in Steinbach, when Dad married Mintie in 1970. Peter felt he was the “luckiest boy in the world because he got a Mother that day” (his words).  Together as a new family, they spent a year (1974-1975) living in Bad Gandersheim, Germany where his parents, and his sister Anita worked in an orphanage, and Peter went to school. They had some wonderful times there.  He lived in Steinbach, until his late teens, when he moved to Grunthal, where he worked with his brothers, at the Feed Mill.

It was while in Grunthal, that he met and married Trudy Reimer, the mother of his two beautiful daughters, Crystal and Aimee.  He enjoyed coaching Ringette and Little League Ball with the girls’ teams.  He also enjoyed occasional rounds of golf with buddies or Werner, and camping.  Later he moved to Winnipeg, working in trailer repairs.  He enjoyed the people he worked with, and was sorry to have to leave the job in Iles des Chenes when he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, in July, 2019. He was living in St Pierre at that time.  Beside his family he had friends, who were there for him, to support him with visits, appointments, prayers and encouragement.  Thank you – you know who you are.

Although apart by distance, and due to restrictions of Covid-19 pandemic, Peter missed the in-person visits of family and friends, but he was always connected to all by phone, texting, and face time.

In July, 2020, Peter chose to be baptised into the family of God, and was accepted by the congregation of St Pierre Bible Fellowship.  He was delighted to have his family there with him for this day, including Crystal and Alice.  He found comfort and peace.  He carried on with this cancer journey, never complaining, and always grateful for all that anyone would do for him.

He will be sorely missed by his two daughters, Crystal Braun Selluski and Aimee Braun (friend David Monterossa), and granddaughter Alice Selluski (all of Vancouver); his brother Werner (Dorothy); two sisters: Ann (Guy) St Hilaire; and Jessie Hildebrand; sister-in-law, Edna Braun; brother-in-law Ralph Parisien; and step-sister Sandy Jewel (Brian).   Many nieces, nephews and their families will also miss him. Peter was pre-deceased by his parents:  Mother Annie, 1964, Father David J. Braun 1982, Step-Mother Mintie (Barkman Toews) Braun in 2004;   Brother Leonard in 2012, Sister Anita Parisien in 2018, and Brother-in-law Ed Hildebrand in 2019.

We, the family, want to give special thanks to all the Home Care people, who so diligently, and with much care, looked after him in St Pierre, and for the last two months at the Chalet Malouin, St Malo.  All the Doctors, Nurses, and others working in Cancer Care and the hospitals, need special mention as well.  Peter often said, “We are so fortunate to have a good medical system in Manitoba, and all of the wonderful care-givers!”

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”  2 Timothy 4:7

We love you, Dad, Grandpa, and brother.

Rest in Peace, until we meet again.
