I am sorry for the loss of your mom and grandma. Over the past few years I had the privilege of meeting and visiting Mary weekly. She will be missed as she was a wonderful lady that I loved. I will meet her in heaven.
I was glad to have met a few of the family so I could put updated faces to the names I heard often and stories I heard.
I started visiting when she was in her other room at the PCH and she had her keyboard. We would sing and play. We (my family and friends) carolled at her room in past years. I would reread her cards that were there for her. We painted nails, visited, went for juice, read scripture and always ended with a prayer together.
I didn’t get a chance to visit much last year. She never remembered my name even when I was there regularly, but when I went in her room and said who was there, after asking me to pass her her glasses, she knew who I was and when worried, she saw me and would ask me to pray with her. When I see her again, I believe she will know my name but we won’t just pray, we will go sit with Father God together and talk to Him there.
May God give you comfort knowing that she is in God’s arms.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mary in 2011 and I grew to love her quickly. She was witty and funny, some of her stories had us laughing till tears rolled down our faces. Between her glasses, her hearing aides and her “hair” there was no shortage of stories.
Mary was true and loyal and I always looked forward to our time together. Although she challenged me on certain things, it made our bond grow stronger. Mary had such a huge heart. Each time I went to spend time with her she would start our visit off with stories of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren while looking at photo albums. Then we would head down to the mail in hopes of getting new pictures of her family. It was clear how much her family meant to her.
Before Mary went to live at the Heritage Life PCH, Mary had some short hospital stays. At one of the visits she was convinced she wasn’t going to return home, she asked me if I knew the song “It is well with my soul.” I assured her I did and began to play the song from my cell phone, sitting beside her while she hummed along. After the song ended she said, can you make sure they play that at my funeral. I promised her I would make a note of that. Today, I looked back at that note, she made that request July 29/14. Thankfully Mary made it home after that visit and we had the opportunity to spend a lot more time together.
I am forever thankful for the time I was allowed with Mary, she was really special to me.
I would like to send my sincere condolences to her family and friends.
