What a wonderful tribute to your mother! I learned so many things! Offering pie to the Halloween vandals!!?? Made me laugh, but that was her character. I am sure that this event will also be remembered by those vandals. Her legacy lives on. Dianna Krahn Warkentin

Our deepest sympathies to you Harold, and to your entire family on the loss of your mother. I have fond memories of her and how supportive she was during all those years we studied and performed music at festivals and recitals. She was encouraging and appreciative of the arts. Cherish all those beautiful memories!

Aunt Jessie Peters was a wonderful lady indeed. I greatly appreciated her amazing hospitality and caring ways. When Harold and I lived together during our University years, her pails of amazing chocolate chip cookies were welcomed indeed.
Many a Sunday feast was enjoyed by me in the comfort of their spotless home. Classical music played in the background, she asked to hear the latest in our family life, and she always hosted with a big smile and a hearty laugh.
At these times, I would also learn more about my family history, including the special bond between Aunt Jessie and my mother (also born Jessie Peters), and among all those Warkentin and Peters relatives.
The first picture I shared shows some of these cousins on a journey in a relative’s car on the “LaSalle Farm” west of Glenlea, Manitoba around 1928. Aunt Jessie is the young girl on the far left sitting in the car (with sister Sara standing close beside). My mother Jessie is the small girl on the running board (being snuggled by sister Annie).
These two Jessies were the last ones in this picture to join their cousins and other relatives in heaven, and what a reunion and celebration that must have been!
Aunt Jessie also was a brides-maid at my mother’s wedding. In her own writing, Aunt Jessie recalled her mother (dear Tante Greta) busily sewing a bridal gown for my mother and two brides-maid dresses (Aunt Jessie’s was pale green in color and Aunt Marie’s was pale yellow). How excited and thrilled Aunt Jessie was to be an attendant for this “cousin of mine with the same name who had always held a special place in my heart”. I know that the feeling was very mutual, and my mother and I and many others loved your Jessie very deeply.
The other picture that I shared is the last time the two Jessie’s were re-united, at dear Uncle Henry Peters’ funeral in 2016. Oh, how they wept tears of joy to see each other again!
We pray for the Peters family in this time as they celebrate the life of their special mother.
With love to all, Vic Neufeld and family
