Obituary of Henry Zacharias

Our beloved husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, Henry Zacharias passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021, after many years battle with Ulcerative Colitis and COPD.

Henry was born August 8, 1936 in Tolstoi, MB., to Aaron and Sarah Zacharias.

On November 23, 1957 he married Mary Krause of Silberfeld, MB. Henry and Mary were both baptised together in Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, Wpg. MB.

Born to them were five children, Randy, Ginny, Dwight, Maxine and Yvonne. They made their home just east of Steinbach, and La Broquerie.

Henry started work at the age of 14 years. First for a farmer driving tractor, then for Uncle Dave Letkeman, next for Manitoba Hydro, next for many different electrical businesses. Then around 1958 he started his own business. Mary helped him from the office at home. Sons Randy and Dwight worked for us for a while.

His favorite things to do were to go west on holiday, have people over, phoning his friends and cousins.

He liked to help our family with stuff on their homes and cottages. He was on call 24/7 for people who needed electrical help.

Some of his fun things were waterskiing, downhill skiing, dancing, riding horses, of course his favorite was flying his airplane, especially on Sundays. He flew rides for many, two of our children also learned to fly, he was extremely proud of that.

He loved his family, his friends, many, many friends. He loved helping at the Museum, going for coffee with buddies, most anyone he met became his friend. He loved to visit all of them.

Loved his four remaining siblings and a predeceased sister a lot.

Besides Mary he will be sadly missed by Randy & Barb; Scott, Alexis, Matt, Virginia, Doug, Tyson, Chelsea, Leighton, Yvonne, Danny, Quinn & Kevin, Dwight, Chris, & Aimee, Maxine, and special son-in-law Antoine (Tony).

The family is grateful for all the prayers and visits.

Henry will always have a special place in our hearts. So many memories for so many years.
