Ken was a kind and watchful neighbour. He always had an eye on the comings and goings at our house across the street, especially in the winter mornings when he was on his exercise bike at the garage window. When my parents were gone for a year, he was a great substitute dad, checking in on us and offering his assistance. One day our house alarm went off with no one home and Ken escorted me through each room of the house. Although I'm sure we were about the same amount of scared, he was still the first one through each door way. My bodyguard! He is missed. My sincere condolences, Jean and family.

Jean, my sincere condolence on your loss. I was taken aback when I saw Ken's obituary in the Free Press as I did not know he was sick. You and Ken were favourites of mine when I was working. Ken was always so friendly and chatty and really made me feel appreciated. I am thankful that you have family and friends to help you and comfort you on this journey. You are in my prayers.

Dear Jean & family,
Our condolences to you Jean & your family. Auntie Tillie told us of Ken's passing. Boris knew Ken all his life, and when I visited Auntie Mary & Uncle Nick Rekrut in Sarto, my sister Nadia & I would hang out at the Romaniuk's store.
Ken was our usher at our wedding 53 yrs. ago. He drove us to the church in his white convertible.
We had some wonderful visits in Arizona. We are thinking of you, take care, Love, cousin Boris & Marilyn

Dear Jean, Jack and Family.
I am so sorry to hear about Ken's passing. Knowing Ken through our years in high school, and the joy of working with Kenny for many years in the old Area Office. We were a family with Ken, Nettie, Sharon, Irv, John, and George.
He was one of the reasons I tried to get on with Hydro and was lucky enough to be accepted. He loved a good laugh, was kind and considerate, and also was a "hoot" to be around. Our bi-yearly fishing trips with Bill Tait, Ken Paton and "Mama Ken", because as soon as we flew in to the old trailor he took on the cleaning and cooking.
I saw Ken a few years ago and it was like I had never left Steinbach, we struck up a conversation, and the years that had passed, his interest and kindness seemed as if it was just yesterday!
Rest in Peace my Friend!

God Will Carry You
The lord will never leave us
nor forsake us,
He promised He’d be with us
through it all.
It often seems
He’s walking right beside us
As He guides us through our problems,
large and small.
But there are times
we just can’t feel His presence,
When the road’s so rough,
we need him all the more -
We wonder why we’re so alone and helpless,
Why His hand’s not there to lead us as before...
But if we listen quietly,
He’ll tell us,
“Take a moment
and remember what I said:
If you fail to see me
walking right beside you,
It’s because I have you
in my arms instead -
For together, we will cross
the highest mountain,
Together we will face the stormy sea,
You never are alone,
you’re never helpless!
I’ll carry you -
let go and lean on me.”
He is with you...
even in
This time of sorrow
Too deep
For words.
Our Thoughts and Prayers
are with You at this time.
Evelyn & Ken Paton

Dear Jean,
I want to extend my sincere condolences on Ken's passing. I was so sorry to hear of his death, especially after his long struggle to get better. It was really good for me to be able to be a virtual part of his funeral service.
I was so pleased to hear your son Jack and your grandchildren tell us of his life and what he meant to all of you and all of you to him especially his love for you, and Jack and Joanne, and the grandchildren and of life and humour. Larry's words as his cousin certainly echoed my feelings as a cousin and although we did not frequently get together I do have wonderful memories of when we did get together especially our young years when we came west to visit Baba and Dido.
I certainly wish you love and all the best in your time of grief.
Love and best wishes
Cousin Ron Belanger

To Jean and Jack...
We are so deeply saddened to hear of Ken's passing. Ken was always a wonderful person to be around. Great stories and memories of hanging out with him on Cedar. Man could he mow a lawn...perfect lines and his lawn looked like a golf course...I remember our classic discussion about watering the lawn...thinking I would win that argument that his lawn needed some watering...his response, "If God wants my lawn green, he will water it for me..." I lost the argument...
Rest in Peace Ken.
