Obituary of Howard Plett

It is with great sadness for us and great joy for Howard that we announce his passing from this earth to his home in Heaven.

He is predeceased by his mother and father, Henry and Margaret Plett, sister, Lottie, sister-in-law, Irene, and nieces Sheri and Becky.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 (almost 38 years) Carolyn, and children: Jami and fiancé Ben, Justin and wife Jessica, and Ryan to remember the joy with which he lived his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis (Shirley), Robert (Rachel), and sisters Betty (Garnet), Anne (Denver), Agatha (Dennis), Marlene (Peter), Ruby (Jake), Irma, Cornellie, Delores (Terry) and Bernice, as well as brother-in-law Dan (Edna) parents-in-law, Don and Marg Wyllie, brother-in-law Graham, and sisters-in-law April (Orville) and Diane (Rod). He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews with whom he has forged such beautiful, supportive relationships over the years.

As a family, we have been so deeply touched by all of the visits, phone calls, texts, meals, thoughts and prayers as Howard showed us all how to accept and walk through suffering and illness with peace and grace. He said he could feel God’s peace in his heart and trusted that God would be with him and give him peace that passes understanding. He lived life with such joy. He absolutely loved music of all kinds (except country) and shared this with his children. He processed life through songs and used them to express his deepest thoughts and feelings.

Howard valued relationships above everything else and spent hours and hours visiting with people and forging solid friendships that were encouraging and valuable to him and others. Howard loved sharing with others and nothing made him happier than to meet people: customers, co-workers, family, friends, and people he met anywhere. He was up for any adventure and always looking for ways to bless others.

A come & go will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

A private family livestreamed service will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
