Obituary of John Rumple

It is with heavy hearts the family of John Rumple announce his passing on Thurdsay, May 6th, 2021.

John was born in Steinbach to Rudolph and Vilma but grew up in Woodridge where he hunted, played ball, worked, raised a family, and generally just had fun with the Woodridge crew.  Although work brought him to Winnipeg and retirement later to Lac du Bonnet, his heart always remained in the southeast where as he put it “it’s just my kind of area”.  Whether you knew him by John or Rumps, his easy-going manor, quick-wit and wicked sense of humour always left an impression – everyone who knew him can think of a time he made them laugh.  His teasing was legendary but to be a target also let you know of his fondness for you.  Later in life as cancer began to take its toll he never lost the ability to amaze doctors, nurses, and even those in the waiting rooms with his spirit and upbeat attitude.  To the end, he never wanted special attention and was always more concerned about the welfare of his family than his own.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Marion (Little Momma); son Marcel (Shorty) and wife Lilliane (Lil), their children Lynette, Carolyne (Brett) and Josie (Kaden), great-grandchildren Aria, Grayson, and Mia; daughter Holly and grandson Braden; and very special nephew Robert.  Also left to miss him are a slew of friends and relatives too numerous to mention by name, but rest assured you held a special place in his heart and ours for the kindness over the last few years.

Special thanks to Dr. Partyka, Dr. Rathod and to Shelly Falconer for not only being caregivers, but for being friends.
