Obituary of Teana Ginter

Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of His saints”

Mom was born and raised in St. Joseph, MB. She had many fond memories of growing up on a mixed farm. Rather than being inside and helping her mom, her preference was to work alongside her dad in the barn or in the field. (Despite this she was an immaculate housekeeper). She told stories about a little lamb they had AND the very exciting Christmas when her baby brother Frank was born!

She worked as a chkjescha at several places before she married the love of her life, Cornie Ginter! She relayed an incident with clarity many years later where a voice had said to her “Are you sure you want this man? He will be in the ministry!”
Yes! She was sure whatever came their way this was the man she was prepared to spend the rest of her life with. They were married July 8, 1948, and she was faithful as his partner and helpmate for 68 years.

Our mom loved to make things shine! Canister sets, floors, cars and most importantly people!

Her joy was complete when she could help someone in what they were doing. She, however, did not have the patience to teach us how to knit or crochet. Patching clothes was not her favourite chore and was so grateful that our grandma, her mother, enjoyed doing this.

Mom and dad lived with dad’s widowed mom in Sommerfeld for a year then moved to the Silberfeld area, where Johnny and Judy were born. It didn’t pan out for them to farm at that time so when dad got a job for Zimbel, as a trucker picking up chickens, they moved to Winnipeg. This is where Peter was born. Mom started working at an egg breaking facility and trying out recipes for sponge cakes was a sweet part of her job.

During this time Peter stayed with mom’s sister, Agatha & Cornie Hildebrand in Steinbach during the week. That was tough on mom so after a while they rather had her brother Frank and his friend Cornie Krause board at their place which helped to pay some bills.

In 1957, they moved to her parents farm in Silberfeld. MaryAnne, Jacob and Arthur were born here and our sister Lynda was chosen, completing our family.

Life was not always easy for mom and dad but they lived it together. God was so gracious, when dad was weak, mom was strong and when mom was weak, dad was strong. Mom had health issues most of her life. If you had asked any of us, we would have said our dad would outlive our mom. When dad passed away mom said “Why did dad always have to be right? He told me he would go before me. We always went together but this time he didn’t take me with him!”
Mom supported and worked alongside dad in his ministry whether it was at home, in Winnipeg or on intern ministry in B.C., and in Ontario and in the latter years in Dominion City.

When dad’s health started failing and we as a family suggested the move to Altona it was a difficult decision to leave their home church and friends, but they understood it was so that we as their children could be a better support to them. After dad’s passing and mom’s failing health she decided to be content wherever she was. She reminded us many times it was in God’s strength that this decision could be fulfilled. How often she told us that God had blessed her so completely with a wonderful husband and loving children.

Mom was not perfect but she was real.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 5:45 our mom went on a field trip, running into the arms of Jesus and collapsing into His lap.

She leaves behind her children: John & Esther Ginter, Altona; Neil & Judy Schellenberg, Rosenort; Peter & Irene Ginter, Silberfeld; Pete & MaryAnne Friesen, Halbstadt; Jacob & Karen Ginter, Guelph, Ontario; Art & Cheryl Ginter, Winnipeg, and Renee Motyka, Halbstadt. 36 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In her words “We started it off and you finished it good” she was predeceased by her husband Cornie Ginter and one grandchild.

Thank you mom for your life of faithful service to your God, your husband and your family. You have left a good example for us to follow.

Our family thanks the Eastview staff for the love and care you showered on our dear mother. God bless you for it.
