Obituary of Anne Wiens

Anne Wiens (nee Epp) passed into glory on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and enjoying the complete rest that He promises.

Anne was born on January 24, 1925, in Kitchener, Ontario to recent immigrants Bernhard and Gertrude Epp. They moved to Manitoba in 1926 to join extended family and be farmers in the small community of Whitewater. Mom lived in Manitoba for the rest of her life. She was the oldest of eight brothers and sisters.

Mom married John Wiens on October 16, 1948. Together they lived in Winnipeg, on the farm near Sanford, in their retirement home in Oak Bluff, and most recently in Lindenwood Manor in Winnipeg. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage and had five children.

Anne was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a full time Homemaker and cared for her family. Her days were filled with cooking, baking, house cleaning, sewing, gardening and a thousand other tasks. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games with family and friends. In later years she took up golfing and had a number of winter holidays with Dad down south.

Mom loved the Lord. She faithfully attended Glenlea Mennonite Church. She was part of the Nei Ferein (Ladies Sewing Circle) during the winters when many blankets were made for MCC. She enjoyed people whether it was family, church people, neighbours, or others from her various communities.

Anne was predeceased by her husband John in 2015. She will be missed by her children Bob, Ken (Tilly), Albert (Theresa), Art (Val), and Janet, and by grandchildren Trevor (Jill), Andrea (Kyle), Jared (Jeanette), Chris (Lucy Ann), Caitlin (Derek), Sarah, Carley (Brett), Jayme, Taylor and Jonathan, as well as 10 great grandchildren. Anne also leaves behind one sister, Mary Friesen and her husband John, and five sisters-in-law.

Donations in memory of Anne may be made to enVision Community Living, 84 Brandt St., Steinbach, MB, R5G 0E1.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions a funeral service will be held for the immediate family only.

A video of the funeral service will be prepared and made available at a later date.
