Roger leaves to mourn his wife, Lorraine; sons Jean and Raynald (Desirée); and grandchildren William and Aurelia. He is also survived by his sisters Hélène Fréchette, Léonne Zaporzan (Bob), Denise Tétrault, and Dianne Gobeil; brothers Étienne, Gilbert (Irène), and Luc Gobeil (Toby); sister-in-law Joan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Albert & Hortense Gobeil; sister Eveline Morin (Léo); brothers Laurent (Shirley), Léon, and Claude Gobeil; brothers-in-law Germain Fréchette and Michel Lacroix; and sister-in-law Mona Gobeil.

Roger was born in St. Pierre-Jolys to Albert and Hortense Gobeil on March 13, 1950. He attended school in town and decided to earn his GED at age 39. He worked in maintenance and as a sewing machine mechanic for 40 years then finished his career working outdoors at St. Malo Provincial Park. He served as president of the St Malo Caisse board for 11 years and volunteered as a firefighter in town. Recently, he and Lorraine celebrated 50 years of marriage. He loved golf, camping, wood working, travelling, helping others, and golf cart rides with grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with family Arthur & Éva Millette and Michel & Ginette Bertrand. He and Lorraine spent summer weekends at their second home in Hallock, Minnesota, while winters were enjoyed at their third and favourite home in Yuma, Arizona. Those who knew him will remember him for his love of life.
